Sales leaders have been invited to contribute to the UK government’s strategy on the future of British business and industry. Business Secretary Greg Clark issued the invitation during a visit by members of the Association of Professional Sales (APS) to Westminster on 24 April.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Sales, the cabinet minister said he wants to engage the sales profession with his department’s work on strengthening British business.
He explained that innovation, skills and infrastructure are all vital to making sure the UK is competitive in the “fourth industrial revolution” and also spoke enthusiastically about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data. He said he was “keen to make sure sales links in with all the work we’re doing on data analytics”.
On skills, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy said that the right skills and training were essential to be productive, and he praised the drive for best practice in the sales profession.
