Welcome to the Age of Mentorship

The myth of the lone wolf salesperson is killing careers – that’s why the Institute of Sales Professionals has created a mentoring programme.

The “lone wolf” is a romantic, outdated notion that isolates talent, stifles growth, and leaves the next generation to learn through a brutal cycle of trial and error, the Institute suggests. “We believe there is a better way. Professional selling is stronger when experience is shared, not hoarded,” an Institute spokesperson explains.

The myth of the lone wolf salesperson is killing careers

Designed to forge career-defining relationships between our most experienced Fellows and Associates and the next generation of sales leaders, ISP Mentoring is a direct challenge to the idea that you must go it alone.

ISP director Guy Lloyd sees this as a critical intervention: “There’s a gap in our profession. Talented salespeople are hungry for guidance, and our most experienced practitioners are eager to give back, but there’s rarely a structured way to connect them.

“ISP Mentoring closes that gap. It creates a deliberate transfer of wisdom that’s as rewarding for the mentor as it is transformative for the mentee.”

Lloyd concludes: “For me personally, mentoring is how I say ‘thank you’ to the profession that shaped my career. Watching someone unlock their potential – that’s what this is all about.” all about.”

Professional selling is stronger when experience is shared

This programme is exclusively for ISP members who are ambitious, curious, and understand that the fastest way to the top is to learn from those already there.
