Despite high employment, UK labour productivity growth remains weak while job prospects of many adults are hurt by poor basic skills such as literacy and numeracy – that’s the view of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD.

A recent report from the inter-governmental organisation, Getting Skills Right: United Kingdom says that to boost the country’s growth, productivity and earnings, the United Kingdom should promote lifelong learning among adults and better skills utilisation.

Northern Ireland and England are in the top ten of the world’s best primary school readers in global rankings. Russia heads the list with Singapore, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland and Finland completing the top five.
