Ben Turner: Qualifications are means for salespeople to demonstrate they are professional.

The Association of Professional Sales announced in February that it has launched a full suite of sales qualifications to represent the skills of salespeople at every stage of their career.

Ben Turner, APS general manager, told the Journal: “We are putting in place the means for salespeople to demonstrate that they are professional people who are learning, and being assessed and rewarded for that learning, to the highest possible standards.”

The qualifications have been designed to be flexible to both learner and employer, as they can be delivered either by higher education institutions, sales training colleges or internally by corporate in-house learning teams and sales academies. The APS has put in place a quality assurance system “based on a sampling model to ensure that, whatever the setting, the qualifications are delivered to the same exacting standards”.
